BuddyDrive processes precise location, speed, route and stop information to create trip history and enable live monitoring. Dashcam video and microphone audio are stored on the Android device unless the driver deliberately exports them.

Driver responsibility

Only install or use BuddyDrive in a vehicle you own or are authorised to monitor. Tell other drivers and passengers about video, audio and location recording wherever consent or notice is required. Never interact with the app while driving; mount the phone securely before moving.

Account and route data

Account passwords are securely hashed. Android activation codes work once, expire after 24 hours and are exchanged for a revocable device token. The portal stores registered vehicles, trip summaries, GPS points, speed bands and stops of at least one minute.

Odometer integrity

The opening odometer entered when a vehicle is created is permanently locked. BuddyDrive calculates the current reading by adding recorded trip distance. GPS-based distance is an estimate and should not replace a vehicle’s certified instrument for legal or maintenance decisions.

BuddyDrive is a recording aid, not an emergency, navigation or collision-avoidance system. Keep attention on the road and follow South African traffic and privacy laws.
